{"id":5857,"date":"2026-09-04T11:01:28","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T11:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.nerjaholidayrentals.com\/fraudulent-holiday-booking-messages\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T11:01:28","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T11:01:28","slug":"fraudulent-holiday-booking-messages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.nerjaholidayrentals.com\/ru\/fraudulent-holiday-booking-messages\/","title":{"rendered":"Security Alert: Fraudulent Messages Targeting Holiday Accommodation Bookings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Travellers are currently being targeted by <strong>fraudulent messages related to holiday accommodation bookings<\/strong>, particularly through WhatsApp, email and other messaging channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spain\u2019s National Cybersecurity Institute, INCIBE, has warned about scams in which criminals <strong>impersonate hotels and holiday accommodation providers<\/strong> and contact guests who may already have a genuine booking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of these messages is usually to convince travellers to <strong>verify, confirm or update their booking<\/strong> by clicking on an external link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does this type of scam work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the reasons these messages can appear convincing is that they may contain <strong>real information related to a booking<\/strong>, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The name of the accommodation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The guest\u2019s name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arrival and departure dates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Booking details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The value of the stay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the fact that a message contains correct booking information <strong>does not necessarily mean that it is legitimate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fraudsters may use these details to gain the guest\u2019s trust before directing them to a fake website. Once there, the guest may be asked to provide personal information, banking details or card information under the pretext of confirming the reservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Signs that a message may be fraudulent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You should be particularly cautious if you receive a message about your booking that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Asks you to confirm your reservation through an unexpected link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Requests your card details again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Asks you to make an additional payment that was not previously agreed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Requests that you change your payment method.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Claims that your booking will be cancelled immediately unless you take action.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comes from an unfamiliar WhatsApp number or email address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Directs you to a website other than the official accommodation or booking platform.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A common feature of these scams is <strong>urgency<\/strong>. Messages may tell you that you need to act immediately to avoid losing your booking.
