El Cañuelo

El Cañuelo is one of the coves that make up the natural landscape of Acantilados-Maro de Cerro and is one of the small treasures of Nerja that will invite you to repeat your vacations in this corner of the Costa del Sol.

It is a gravel beach and crystal clear waters, ideal for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts as it is one of the few places on the coast where you can see orange coral. It is an isolated and difficult to access beach, surrounded by forests and cliffs. It is located about 13 kilometers from the town, near the border with the province of Granada. You can get there by car and leave it in a parking place located 2’5 kilometers from the beach; from there there is a bus service that leaves you near the shore for only 1 euro each way.

Despite being an isolated cove, it has two beach bars and a sun lounger service.

Playa El Salon

Two hundred meters of beach of dark sand that is in the middle of the town; Maybe that’s where his name comes from, because it’s so close to the city center that it’s like moving around the house. Being one of the urban beaches of Nerja, it is not exempt from services: toilets, showers, sunbeds and sunshades, cleaning service, kiosk … It is also easily accessible for the disabled. As curiosity, it should be noted that El Salón also has a library, that is, a book loan service to complete your beach day and disconnection.

It is a must during the White Party, on August 14, since it is one of the corners of Nerja that are adorned with torches, drink bars are mounted and shows are organized.

The beach, together with the fishermen’s houses that still stand around it and the small boats stuck in the sand, make up one of the best-known and most picturesque pictures of the city of Malaga.

Las Alberquillas

Taking the N-340 towards Almuñecar and approximately at kilometer 299, we find a couple of parking lots. From there we can walk to this another cove of the natural reserve of Los Acantilados de Maro. It is one of the most virgin and quiet beaches of Nerja because you have to walk and because it is made of stones, so it is advisable to use slippers or slippers. It does not have services, so you have to get to it with everything you need if you want to spend the day there. Thanks to its enclave, it is one of the three beaches of Nerja where you can practice nudism along Cantarriján and Las Calas del Pino. It is also another recommended space for snorkeling.

Playa Molino de Papel

Little known beach located just to the right of Las Alberquillas and, although it is twice as long, it is less frequented because it is more hidden and because access is more complicated. In it flows the river of La Miel and the stream of Colmenarejos. You can get there by walking from the same previous parking lot and it does not have any services, so you have to keep in mind to bring water and a parasol.

Like all corners of the Maro nature reserve, it is another beach with crystal clear waters surrounded by vegetation and spectacular cliffs. Without a doubt, another of the paradises that Nerja offers.

El Playazo

With that name, it is not difficult to imagine that we are talking about the most extensive beach in Nerja: no more or less than 1700 meters of sand, so you have a place to put the towel even in the most affluent seasons. Being a semi-urban beach, it has all the services: beach chairs and umbrellas, nautical rental, toilets, cleaning service, beach bars, showers, children’s area, surveillance and parking nearby. El Playazo is one of the points where the Nerjeños gather to celebrate the festivity of San Juan on June 23 with bonfires, drinks and friends. Also on this beach you can find one of the best beach restaurants of Nerja (Chiringuito Mauri) to taste good tapas or fried fish.

And with this we finish our review of the best valued beaches of Nerja of the 14 kilometers of coastline that the population of Malaga has. As you can see, here we have a beach for any occasion: to go with family and children, if you go by car or walk, nudist beaches, virgin beaches and calm … Without a doubt, Nerja is one of the best corners of the Costa of the Sun to enjoy the sun and the Mediterranean.
